The Budget Committee of the German Bundestag has released funds totalling 30 million euros for the further expansion of the siren infrastructure in Germany. The aim is to rapidly close the remaining gaps in a nationwide siren network. The plan is for both the federal government and the federal states to provide the funds in equal shares in future. In Germany, responsibility for the sirens lies with the cities and local authorities. The first funding programme was adopted in 2021. At that time, the federal government provided 88 million euros.
